This book offered some good information for people looking to get into training dogs professionally. I thought that many of the ideas for advertising were helpful. The downside was the author’s push of her own training methods. This book is made to seem like a book about helping people get started and learning the business aspects of a dog training business, but there is definitely an agenda to push her “purely positive” methods which becomes frustrating after a while. Read it if you want the information on the business part, but be prepared to have to deal with the pushing of questionable training methods.

I could not put this book down! This book is a MUST READ for any aspiring dog trainer or even an established trainer looking for new ideas. Nicole Wilde is a very good writer and keeps you interested with fun, smart and new ideas. I am an aspiring dog trainer who felt “stuck” and needed tips on what to do next. This is a very easy, step-by-step book that will give any trainer the confidence to get the next step done, get out there and get down to business! She also gives wonderful references to other topics that she does not expand on.

When I decided to become a dog trainer, I had so many questions. Do I need to be certified? What type of school should I go too? Where can I connect with other trainers? What books should I read? What methods should I avoid? How should I market myself? And most importantly – WHERE DO I START?!
This book was helpful in answering all of these questions plus more. It also gave advice and suggestions for things I hadn’t even thought of yet. It also has a lengthy resource section which has been extremely helpful for me and other newbie trainers.
If you’re looking to get into the business, this is an excellent place to get your start. The information contained here are invaluable and will get you on your feet – just like it did for me! I highly recommend it to anyone who’s considering a career as a dog trainer.

This book is beyond awesome… I actually sat down and read it in only a couple sittings. It is very plainly written, but it covers SO much! Nicole Wilde goes on to explain things that I never would have thought about on my own – that is until I run into it, because it is stuff for sure that I will eventually, and I just would not have been prepared! The book has pages of resources and recommended readings. I think this book is all around a great buy for someone looking to go into this field. She went right down into talking about advertising and contracts! I highly recommend this book!

Nicole explains very clearly all what you have to consider when you are trying to endeavor in dog training, considering not only dogs but also the owners of the dogs. Also Nicole provides very good tips about this wonderful dog world. I strongly recommend that every person trying to be a dog trainer should read this book for general information. This book does not tell you about training techniques. Just general info that you should consider.
